Blue Jackets / January Recap

After having an absolutely magical December, I didn't expect to also win every game in the first month of 2017. Our first game in Jan was our historic 16th win in a row, and unfortunately the end of our streak. Although it couldn't last forever, it was a little disappointing that we only skated away with 6 wins and 7 losses this month.

Some big news was happening in the net this month. Obviously Bob is our number one cop on the force, but the Jackets decided that Curtis McElhinney was not his best deputy. Big Mac was waived and claimed by Toronto the second week on January and a rotation between Forsberg and Korpisalo began when Bob needed some rest. After a few games with each, it is still up in the air if either is ready to take an official backup position with such inconsistent performances.

This season the Jackets have been extremely lucky to have minimal injuries and missed games. But the flu took down a few CBJ players this month at different times and they were definitely missed. Let's hope for a healthy and strong February my friends.
